Vacation - Alaskan Cruise on Princess Cruises
June 6 -June 14, 2008 - Mom and Dad Whelehan decided it was time to get the whole Whelehan clan together. This includes:
- Joan and Jim (Mom and Dad)
- Jim, Andrea, Josh, and Jon
- Linda (Sister), Johnny, and Nick
- Kim (Sister), Scott, Brandon, Kristin
All of us met in Vancouver and stayed there overnight. We then headed to the Princess Diamond (the same ship Jim, Andrea, Josh, and Jon took to Mexico in 2006) and left out of Vancouver under the Lions Gate Bridge. 2 days at sea and then we headed to our first port - Ketchikan, AK. We took the Rainforest Nature Hike excursion. The second port was Juneau, AK. This day, we took the Roberts Tram up to the top of the mountain and then hiked the 2 hours back to Juneau. On the third port stop, we headed to Skagway, AK. We took the Bus/Train ride to the Canadian Border at Fraser. (Lots of shopping by the way at all 3 ports).
Then we headed towards Anchorage (actually docked at Whittier, AK as our final port). On the way up there, we stopped one day at Glacier Bay to see the 2 big glaciers. Then on the final scenic route we headed to College Fjords, AK. This has many glaciers, ice debris, and beautiful scenic views. It was extremely cold and white.
